Subsea Cutting Tools
Our range of Chopsaws, Twin Recovery & Cutting System (TRACS) and Tracksaw — precision tools built for performance, efficiency, and safety in demanding underwater environments.
The C1 Chopsaw Range
Precision cutting for subsea and topside operations
Since 2011, Decom Engineering has pioneered subsea cutting innovation, delivering tailored engineering solutions globally for the renewable energy, oil and gas, and infrastructure sectors. We offer a suite of precision cutting tools built for performance, efficiency, and safety in the most demanding underwater environments.
The C1 Chopsaw
Central to our offering is the patented C1 Chopsaw Range, renowned for its precision and speed. With a strong track record of successful clean cuts across six continents, this tool delivers clean cuts up to 46″ OD. Our Chopsaw is exceptionally fast — often performing cuts up to three times quicker than comparable diamond wire saws — and offers up to five times more cuts per blade, significantly reducing downtime by eliminating wire-snapping risks. The Chopsaw has been field tested on thousands of cuts on challenging materials such as super-duplex, Inconel, and thick PE coatings.
C1-16 UL — versatility in focus
The C1-16 UL model is particularly popular due to its versatility and efficiency, capable of cutting a wide range of materials including:
- Mooring chain (in tension or slack)
- Flexible risers (in tension or slack)
- Carbon steel pipe
- PU coated pipe
- Restricted crane access cutting
- Inconels
Why operators choose C1
Key features & benefits
Cost-effective
Each blade can perform between 20 and 100 cuts depending on the application, reducing blade changes and operational cost.
Versatile cutting
Quick blade changes can be completed in as little as five minutes on many models, maximising productivity on site.
Fast, clean, and precise
Our proprietary Tungsten Carbide Tipped (TCT) blade significantly reduces blade changes and operational downtime compared with wire saws.
Neutrally buoyant design
The design supports easy ROV manoeuvrability and access to challenging locations without always relying on a crane.
High efficiency
Engineered for fewer interruptions: rapid blade changes and dependable mechanical cutting keep your campaign moving.
Operational safety
Designed to minimise operational hazards and eliminate wire-snapping risks associated with diamond wire alternatives.

Lifting Solutions
TRACS-16 (Twin Recovery & Cutting System)
The TRACS-16 is a modular tool that combines cutting, lifting, and recovery in a single system. It is designed to cut and recover pipelines and flowlines up to 16 inches in diameter and 20 metres long. The tool can be modified for a range of sizes, offering enhanced flexibility. Crane-deployable, it is ideal for subsea decommissioning — recovering sections to the deck or relocating them to a subsea basket. A quick-connect system allows seamless attachment and detachment of the C1-16 Chopsaw. TRACS-16 improves safety by reducing simultaneous operations and saves vessel time. It can be operated via an ROV or a downline power source.

The Tracksaw
The Tracksaw is a compact, high-torque tool designed for optimal performance in confined spaces and challenging environments. Its compact design fits tight areas with minimal headroom, while a customisable clamping system ensures secure attachment for precise cutting on flat plates, gussets, rib plates, and standard beam sections. Fabricated from high-strength Strenx steel for durability in harsh environments, it performs both horizontal and vertical cuts. A unique feature is its ability to remain clamped subsea even when hotstabs are disconnected, reducing recovery needs and maximising operational efficiency.
