Our patented tools perform precision cold-cuts in the most demanding underwater environments, engineered specifically to shorten schedules and safeguard project margins.

The C1 Chopsaw Range

Delivering Measurable Offshore Performance: Reducing Risk, Shortening Timelines, Lowering Costs

Since 2011, Decom Engineering has pioneered subsea cutting innovation worldwide, delivering tailored engineering solutions for the renewable energy, oil and gas, and marine infrastructure sectors. Central to our offering is the patented C1 Chopsaw Range, renowned for industry-leading speed, safety, and reliability across six continents.

  • Up to 3x Faster Than Diamond Wire Saws: Delivers rapid mechanical severance to instantly recover lost schedule time and reduce total offshore days.
  • Up to 5x Greater Blade Life: Exceptional tool longevity that eliminates mid-scope trip-outs and costly blade changes.
  • Ensure Reliability and Eliminate Downtime: Rigid blade design eliminates wire-snapping risks, securing a 100% cutting operation success rate.
  • Cut Where Others Fail: Extensively field-proven on thousands of cuts through challenging materials, including super-duplex, Inconel, and heavy concrete weight coatings (CWC) or PE coatings.

C1-16 UL — Versatility in Focus

The C1-16 UL model delivers exceptional efficiency and multi-material versatility across complex subsea scopes. Designed for rapid mobilisation and crane or ROV deployment, it excels in tight structural envelopes and restricted access zones, with proven capability cutting:

  • Mooring chains (in tension or slack)
  • Flexible risers (in tension or slack)
  • Carbon steel and PU-coated pipelines
  • Inconel and exotic alloys

Key features & benefits

Maximised Cost-Efficiency

Each proprietary blade can perform between 20 and 100 cuts depending on the application. This exceptional lifespan drastically cuts consumable expenses and reduces total operational costs.

Rapid Blade Changes

When a change is required, our streamlined design allows blades to be swapped out in as little as five minutes on many models, keeping on-site productivity at its peak.

Fast, Clean, Precise Cold-Cuts

Utilising our advanced Tungsten Carbide Tipped (TCT) blades, the C1 range delivers rapid, clean severance that eliminates the operational downtime and non-productive time (NPT) typical of traditional wire saws.

Neutrally Buoyant Design

The engineered weight and balance support seamless ROV manoeuvrability and close-quarters access, allowing operations to continue efficiently in challenging subsea locations without always relying on a crane.

Streamlined Operational Efficiency

Engineered for continuous operation. The combination of high-speed mechanical cutting and minimal field maintenance ensures your offshore campaign keeps moving forward.

Enhanced Operational Safety

Built to meet strict offshore safety standards, the rigid mechanical blade design completely eliminates the dangerous wire-snapping risks and operational hazards associated with diamond wire alternatives.

Lifting Solutions

TRACS-16 (Twin Recovery & Cutting System)

The TRACS-16 is a modular tool that combines cutting, lifting, and recovery in a single system. It is designed to cut and recover pipelines and flowlines up to 16 inches in diameter and 20 metres long. The tool can be modified for a range of sizes, offering enhanced flexibility. Crane-deployable, it is ideal for subsea decommissioning — recovering sections to the deck or relocating them to a subsea basket. A quick-connect system allows seamless attachment and detachment of the C1-16 Chopsaw. TRACS-16 improves safety by reducing simultaneous operations and saves vessel time. It can be operated via an ROV or a downline power source.

Bespoke Solutions

The Tracksaw

The Tracksaw is a compact, high-torque tool designed for optimal performance in confined spaces and challenging environments. Its compact design fits tight areas with minimal headroom, while a customisable clamping system ensures secure attachment for precise cutting on flat plates, gussets, rib plates, and standard beam sections. Fabricated from high-strength Strenx steel for durability in harsh environments, it performs both horizontal and vertical cuts. A unique feature is its ability to remain clamped subsea even when hotstabs are disconnected, reducing recovery needs and maximising operational efficiency.
