Project Overview
Decom Engineering was engaged by Subsea 7 for Shell after hydraulic shears and diamond wire saws failed to deliver efficient cut trials. Following successful onshore trials, the C1-24 completed precise cuts on a 16" OD production spool with 29mm WT duplex inner and 96mm SPU coating at 170m. The project ran from the topside control panel via HPU and umbilical reeler with diver-led observation, averaging 35 minutes per cut.
