The project involved the recovery of 20’’ outer diameter multi-string conductors from the Repsol Gyda platform in the North Sea. The conductors, made of X70 grade material and not grouted, required precise cutting to ensure efficient removal.

Decom Engineering was contracted to provide a C1-24 chopsaw for this task, along with two offshore technicians to manage the operation. The deployment was executed using topside processing, powered by a hydraulic power unit (HPU). On average, each cut was completed within one hour, and the project saw 5 to 10 cuts per blade, showcasing the tool’s efficiency and reliability.

capability to handle the specific material and cutting
