Client – TechnipFMC
Operator – Woodside
Decom Engineering was engaged by TechnipFMC to deliver subsea cutting operations as part of Woodside’s decommissioning activities across the Griffin, Enfield, and Stybarrow fields, offshore Western Australia.
The project required precision cutting on a variety of subsea structures—including Koscon manifold terminations, flexible risers, and mooring chains—at depths ranging from 500m to 850m. The C1-24 chop saw (unit 105) was crane deployed, powered subsea by an ROV, and operated with Decom-supplied hotstabs to complete critical cuts across multiple asset types under challenging offshore conditions.
Solution
Decom Engineering’s deployment of the C1-24 chop saw enabled some of the fastest cutting times on the market for flowlines, duplex materials, and mooring chains. Across a diverse cutting scope, the saw consistently delivered precise, controlled cuts—achieving 40-minute cut times on the Koscon manifold, 20-minute cut times on flexible risers, and just 8 minutes per cut on 76mm mooring chain links.
The operation’s efficiency minimized vessel time and intervention risk while maintaining cut quality across multiple materials and diameters, supporting TechnipFMC and Woodside’s decommissioning objectives across three offshore fields.
