Decom Engineering was engaged after the client
struggled to complete successful efficinet cut trials with hydraulic shears and diamond wire saws. After making a number of successful onshore trial cuts Decom were contracted to make the cuts on a 16”
OD production spool with a 29mm WT duplex inner
and a 96mm SPU coating at 170m water depth.

The project was executed from the topside control panel, powered by an HPU and umbilical reeler with diver-led observation. The average cut times of 35 minutes exceeded expectations.


Solution

Decom Engineering provided a full equipment and service solution to meet the project’s requirements. The solution included project management, the deployment of in-house technicians with specialized expertise, and logistics management to ensure seamless operation.

The equipment provided included an HPU and reeeler
