Windfarm Cables Cutting

Decom Engineering was contracted by James Fisher Offshore to provide cutting solutions for windfarm electrical cables in Asia. The project involved cutting 290mm OD windfarm electrical cables at a water depth of approximately 70 meters. The operation was carried out using a crane-deployed system, supported by an HPU and reeler. The average cut time for each cable was approximately 6 minutes, with the C1-24 Chopsaw delivering up to 20 cuts per blade, showcasing both efficiency and durability in underwater conditions.

Decom Engineering delivered a full equipment and service solution tailored to the specific needs of the project. This included the provision of the C1-24 Chopsaw, known for its precision and reliability in subsea cutting operations. Alongside the primary equipment, a comprehensive set of spare blades and parts was supplied to ensure continuous operation and minimal downtime.

In addition to the cutting equipment, Decom Engineering also provided full project management services, overseeing the deployment, operation, and completion of the cable cutting tasks. This included technical support to ensure the operation ran smoothly and met the project’s strict timelines and performance requirements.
